System calls right through the system, creating threads as well as other unidentified areas have quite a large impact, and those are things Sekhon talked quite a bit about. You can’t explain everything away as ‘the way OS X does memory allocation’. It certainly goes nowhere near to explaining away this: Well where exactly? He also writes “Writing this entry felt like arguing on IRC please don’t make me do it again.” Well, no one is making you do it, and the reason why people argue on IRC is because someone sees something they just don’t like or someone writes something they just don’t like. Apparently we’re supposed to believe that Apple have made some trade-offs for other areas. All he does is basically shrug his shoulders and say “I’ve no idea why it’s slower, but it could be the way they’re measuring it”.
